True Curriculum

Welcome back! Last week we talked about the “Black and White ” of American education; in other words, how what we are taught (and not taught) in school exists to replicate the racial hierarchy  that exists outside the school and nationwide. I had the opportunity to have a great conversation with Allen Baugh, a dynamic high school English teacher who formerly taught in Jackson, Mississippi, and is currently teaching in Texas. We discussed his experiences as both a Black male student and now a Black male educator, the current state of the education system, and what education, especially for Black students, should really be about.
