What Is the BCPHR Editorial Fellowship?
The two-month virtual BCPHR Editorial Fellowship educates aspiring academic journal editors and reviewers in the process of peer review, editing, and publishing. Fellows participate in learning sessions as well as hands-on engagements in all aspects of the publication process. They take turns serving as Reviewers, Associate Editors, and Managing Editor for BCPHR, and help manage submissions, review and provide recommendations on manuscripts, communicate with authors, and participate in regular group meetings with current editorial staff.
Who Should Apply?
We are seeking self-directed and highly motivated individuals who have:
Strong writing and editing skills
An interest in working in academic publishing
A passion for peer review research and public health examined through the lenses of social justice and equity.
Who to Expect?
Participants will gain:
In-depth knowledge of the peer review process
Insight into the characteristics of well-executed manuscripts
Understanding of the publishing process through training in the roles of managing editor, associate editor, and reviewer.
Program Participation/Activities
Completion of online training courses and other educational materials.
Review of selected manuscripts, in consultation with editors
Attendance at regular group meetings
Opportunity to join the Journal as a reviewer or editor upon completion of the fellowship.
